September 11, 2006 – “What You Need To Know About Heart Disease” 

Brenda Neckels, RN, BSN – MCH Center for Heart Disease

Brenda will present information on symptoms of heart disease….both obvious and the not so blatant symptoms.  She will talk about the amazing technology and physicians we have available in our city.   Brenda is also an amazing photographer and I have asked her to bring some of her work for our members to enjoy. 

October 9, 2006 - “Know How To Deal With Pharmaceutical Red Tape”

Eric Pokky – Pharmacy

Eric will present information and answer questions about the confusing issues involved in Medicare and Medicaid pharmaceutical issues. 

November 13, 2006 - “Learn What Is Behind Custom Jewelry Artistry”

Sonya Haynie – Jewelry Artist

We will meet at Sonya’s Gallery located at 1700 E. 13th in Odessa.  We will be able to enjoy her artistry through her jewelry and painting.  We will also take a tour of her studio to see how the jewelry is created. 

December 11, 2006 - “Traditions And Tastes For A Happy Holiday

Christmas Party – Members will share stories of their favorite family traditions and feast on Holiday treats.   

January 8, 2007 - “How The Odessan Magazine has Documented Odessa’s History” and “What’s New at MCH”

Renee Earls – Owner/Editor of The Odessan magazine and MCH Executive Director of Communications/Marketing

Renee will go through the history of The Odessan magazine and how the publication has documented the history of our area.  The Odessan magazine is a publication owned and managed by Renee and her husband Rich Earls.  Additionally, Renee will give us an update on Medical Center Hospital including the new cancer center, wound care area, pediatric unit and the many other areas and programs at MCH.     

February 12, 2007 - “Ector County Independent School District’s Best Kept Secret – Channel 10 Television”

Karen Johnson – ECISD

Karen is the General Manager of ECISD TV Channel 10.  She will give us an update on the television station and what is involved in the day-to-day operations.   

March 12, 2007 - “What’s News in the Permian Basin?”

Jay Hendricks – CBS 7 News Anchor

Jay will discuss the news industry in our area.  He will give us an update on the upcoming anchor team that will be on air beginning April 1, 2007 and give us an inside glance into a “day in the life” of a news anchor.
